AANP Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioners

Greg and Josie are Board Certified in Family Practice by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. They have a collaborative practice agreement with Dr. Jeremy Huff, a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician who serves as their Supervising Physician, and have long-term professional relationships with a large number of specialty physicians throughout Southeast Texas.

After completing their post-graduate training in February 2004, the Smiths were mentored by some of Beaumont’s finest Family Medicine Physicians prior to starting their own practice in September of 2009.

Josie Smith, APRN, FNP-C

A Registered Nurse since 1988, Josie completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB – Galveston) where she graduated with Honors.

She completed her post-graduate studies in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Graceland University in Independence, Missouri and was awarded a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree in February of 2004, graduating with High Honors.

Prior to Becoming a Nurse Practitioner...

Josie spent 20 + years in EMS, Emergency Department and Adult and Pediatric Critical Care Units, including 15 years as a Flight Nurse-Paramedic on EMS Helicopters and Jets.

Her flying career culminated with her appointment as Chief Flight Nurse of Angel Flight, where she managed three helicopters (Beaumont, Jasper and Lufkin), a Lear Jet for national and international flights, and a staff of more than fifty employees.

Josie held board certifications in Emergency Nursing and Adult Critical Care Nursing. She was a Paramedic Instructor and Advanced Course Coordinator for the Texas Department of Health, and held additional instructor certifications in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core Course, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Advanced Life Support. She has been instrumental in the education of countless healthcare professionals over the past several decades.

Greg Smith, APRN, FNP-C

A Registered Nurse since 1989, Greg completed his undergraduate education (BSN) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB – Galveston), where he graduated with High Honors.

He completed his post-graduate studies in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Graceland University and was awarded a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree in February 2004. He graduated with High Honors and was recognized as the “Outstanding Graduate Student of 2004.”

Prior to Becoming a Nurse Practitioner...

Greg began his career in 1982 in the prehospital arena as a Volunteer Firefighter with Lumberton Fire Department and as a Volunteer Paramedic with Lumberton EMS. Prior to becoming an RN in 1989, he was employed as an EMT-Paramedic for the City of Beaumont EMS.

His hospital experience includes working in the Emergency Department and Pediatric Intensive Care Units at St. Elizabeth and in the Level I Trauma Center at UTMB-Galveston.

He logged more than 4000 hours of flight time during a 17-year career as a Flight Nurse-Paramedic with Med-Link, with UTMB Life Flight, and as the Clinical Director of the Angel Flight program.

Greg held board certifications in Emergency Nursing (CEN) and Flight Nursing (CFRN). He was a Paramedic Instructor and Examiner for the Texas Department of Health as well as a Critical Care Paramedic Instructor. He held additional instructor certifications in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Advanced Life Support. He too has been instrumental in the education of countless healthcare professionals over the past several decades.
